About Studio9Art

Studio9Art has been engaged in fine art picture framing for over 20 years and has worked with some of Australia’s finest artists, galleries and art institutions, as well as working alongside some of the nation’s most respected curators and fine art conservators, while proudly having frames displayed in some of the biggest exhibitions in Australia.

We work closely with our clientele, be it the general public, museums, artists, galleries, or interior decorators and fine art collectors, in preserving and displaying your artworks.

From hand finished frames to display plinths or our Hangtrack rail systems, we have you covered.

Along with using only the finest conservation materials for preserving your artworks and items, we also pride ourselves on our hand finished timber frames, where we match perfectly your desired frame finish.

Outside of the visual arts we also offer many other framing services to the general public, such as sporting memorabilia, war medals and ordinance items, as well as found items such as stones or pottery, ancient coins, or even dried flowers and heirlooms from your wedding day.

We can frame anything you have and in any size. Simply get in touch to discuss.

Common questions

Before you bring the work in

What can Studio9Art frame?

Anything you have, in any size. Fine art, conservation and museum work, hand finished timber frames, sporting memorabilia and signed jerseys, war medals and ordinance items, and found pieces such as stones, pottery, ancient coins, dried flowers and heirlooms from a wedding day. If you are not sure whether something can be framed, it almost certainly can.

Where is the studio and when can I come in?

The studio is at 23 Panorama Avenue, Ringwood North VIC 3134. It is open 7 days by appointment, so the right person is there when you arrive with the work. Call 0422 782 269 or email info@studio9art.net.au.

Do you do conservation and museum framing?

Yes. Conservation and museum framing uses archival, acid free materials throughout. Studio9Art has worked alongside some of the nation's most respected curators and fine art conservators, and with museums, galleries and art institutions.

What are the float frames made of, and what do they cost?

The frames are 100 percent Tasmanian renewable oak, the stretcher bars are 100 percent renewable Australian pine and the canvas is 12 ounce cotton. They come in six finishes, Japanese Brown, Walnut, Mahogany, Blackwood, Natural Oak and Satin Black, and run from $176.00 to $376.00. Custom sizes, bundle packages and a stain matched to your artwork are all available.

Can a float frame be reused once the work is finished?

Yes. Every blank canvas float frame is cut, joined, stained, sealed and polished in the studio before the stretched canvas goes in and is screwed into place, so it lifts out again just as easily.

What is a Hangtrack rail system?

A rail carries the weight along the top of the wall and lets every piece hang from an adjustable cable. Work can be moved, swapped or rehung at any height in minutes, and the wall behind it never collects another row of holes. Studio9Art supplies and installs rail systems and display plinths.

Do you help artists put on an exhibition?

Yes, through the Exhibition Partnership Program. Artists receive 20% off exhibition framing, a framing consultation before anything is recommended, and quotations for larger exhibitions. Studio9Art may also contribute up to 15% toward eligible gallery hire, subject to an agreed maximum and the exhibition framing being completed through the studio. The studio works with independent galleries and exhibition bars across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

How do I get a quote?

Bring the piece in, or send a photo and a couple of lines about what you would like framed. You will get considered options back, with no obligation.

How long has Studio9Art been framing?

Over 20 years. In that time the studio has worked with some of Australia's finest artists, galleries and art institutions, and has had frames displayed in some of the biggest exhibitions in Australia.
